Mission Statement

At Tarras School we strive to create a calm, safe place to be. We celebrate kanorau (diversity); accepting and respecting each other’s uniqueness and work to develop a sense of belonging. We create opportunities for all tamariki to learn and excel. We encourage all to show manira (curiosity) by asking questions, being excited and engaged and enjoying shared learning experiences. Our hapori (community) is active and supportive in our place; we are the hub and feel privileged to be so. We encourage whānau to be fully involved in life at Tarras. Whakauka (sustainability) guides us to ensure we are upholding and protecting our mana, kura and whenua.

Principal's Message

Kia ora and Welcome to Tarras School. We’re delighted you have found our page and hope that it provides a little insight into our special place.

It is a privilege to work at Tarras School - we are in a speculator part of the country and we have a very generous and supportive whānau and wider community - we’re fortunate to have such great people around us. We strive to create a calm, safe place to be. Our tamariki are fantastic: hardworking, resilient, motivated and enthusiastic problem solvers who are creative and artistic. They love to lend a helping hand, are incredibly kind and include everyone.  They love a challenge and work to meet high expectations, they all strive to be successful, which looks different for everyone. Our staff are passionate, hardworking and have the tamariki at the center of all they do - we’re fortunate to have such a team!
